Recommended Soil Mix for a 4×8 Raised Bed
The best results usually come from using a mix of topsoil, compost, and aeration materials rather than only bagged garden soil.

- 10% perlite, coarse sand, or aged pine fines

Not always.
For deeper raised beds, many gardeners reduce cost by filling the lower portion with natural materials such as leaves, untreated wood, branches, or straw before adding high-quality growing soil on top.
